About

The company behind SkilakSpool.

Skilak Consulting LLC builds SkilakSpool: on-premises private AI for organizations whose data cannot leave the building. What is registered, how a system is delivered, and what you would still own if we were not here.

Identity

Two names, one company.

One is the company. The other is the product. There is no third entity, and any agreement you sign is with Skilak Consulting LLC.

Skilak Consulting LLC is an Alaska-registered firm founded in October 2023 and named for Skilak Lake in the Kenai Peninsula. It builds software and infrastructure for government agencies and private clients. SkilakSpool is its on-premises private AI product line — reference hardware, a tested open-source stack, written runbooks, and acceptance evidence, delivered as a working system rather than a box left at the loading dock.

We are a small firm on purpose. That means senior attention on the engagement rather than a junior engineer with a senior title — and it also means the continuity question below is one we answer directly instead of waiting for you to raise it.

Hardware is quoted through authorized distribution, which is how a system arrives with a warranty and a support path that outlives any one supplier.

Continuity

What you keep if we are not here.

The honest answer to a young vendor's biggest objection is not a promise about our longevity. It is that the system does not depend on it.

The software is open source

Nothing in the stack is ours to withdraw, and none of it phones a licence server. A system that stops hearing from us keeps serving.

There is no vendor backdoor

No standing remote access, no permanent tunnel, and no unmanaged support account. Support runs through a path you approve and can revoke. Removing us is a firewall rule, not a migration.

The runbooks are yours

Install, backup and restore, egress verification, and network and access design are written procedures handed over at acceptance — not knowledge held in one person's head.

The hardware is bought, not leased

You own the machine outright. There is no per-seat AI fee to lapse and no subscription that bricks the box.

That is a structural choice, not a reassurance. We took the margin elsewhere — hardware, a fixed deployment fee, and support you can cancel — precisely so that none of it holds your system hostage.
